The history
the "old mosquito"

Prehistory:

The name "Mecke" appears in a document for the first time in an interest tap register of the Merlau church from 1482.

The Gasthaus "Zur alten Mücke"

The “Zur alten Mücke” inn on Gießener Strasse was built around 1825.

At that time and in the following years the house was a simple tavern and tavern and served the Vogelsberg carters as a temporary lodging.

According to a letter of purchase dated December 14, 1856, Konrad Bräuning 2nd acquires the entire property.

Konrad Bräuning 2nd - First host on the Mücke from the Bräuning generation.

Konrad Bräuning 2nd was born on January 16, 1819. He was a carter, farmer and innkeeper on the Mücke. The economy on the state road Grünberg - Alsfeld was at that time a pure relaxation and tensioning economy. The carters from the Vogelsberg rested in it before moving on to Grünberg, Giessen or Frankfurt and vice versa when they came back. When the Upper Hessian Railway with the Mücke station opened in 1871, rail travelers also came to the economy.

Konrad Bräuning 3rd - Second host on the Mücke from the Bräuning generation.

Konrad Bräuning 3. takes over the Hofreite from his father Konrad Bräuning 2. and with the same also the economy. The economy has been run very successfully in this family for around 40 years. This economy on the district road Grünberg - Alsfeld, near the station Mücke, has grown with the growing traffic of the station Mücke. Most of the carters and the public who pass the road to Alsfeld, Ulrichstein and Bobenhausen from the Mücke station, frequent this inn. At festivals where a large audience travels, it can be determined that up to 30 people and more from outside travel there for days shortly before the departure and shortly after the arrival of railroad trains.

Hugo Bräuning - third host from the Bräuning generation.

Hugo Bräuning succeeded his father as a mosquito host. Hugo Bräuning was a farmer, innkeeper and horse dealer.

Kurt Bräuning - fourth host on the Mücke from the Bräuning generation.

Kurt Bräuning stays in the restaurant "Zur alten Mücke" and runs agriculture and restaurants together with his father. He married Marianne Himmel on December 23, 1959. She is a capable cook and with her the inn turned into a real dining establishment. Kurt Bräuning rebuilt the inn several times between 1963 and 1976, with the help of his parents, until it reached its current state through a total renovation in 1990. The Bräunings have two daughters.

Bärbel Bräuning - Fifth landlord (1st landlady) on the Mücke from the Bräuning generation.

Bärbel Bräuning stays in the restaurant "Zur alten Mücke" and also becomes a capable cook under the guidance of her mother. She runs the restaurant with her husband and two sons.
